Marthandan, Multimedia University&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Norzaidi Mohd Daud, Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Chong Siong Choy, Putra International College&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Citation&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;SCOPUS: 22&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Abstract&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Purpose&lt;/strong&gt; – Based upon the E-VALUE model, this paper investigates the impact of e-commerce usage on business performance in the Malaysian tourism sector.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Design/methodology/approach&lt;/strong&gt; – A cross-sectional survey was carried out on 217 Malaysian firms involved in the tourism sector (hotels, resorts and hospitals engaged in health tourism) through the use of a structured questionnaire.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Findings -&lt;/strong&gt; The structural equation modeling (SEM) results indicate that technology competency, firm size, firm scope, web-technology investment, pressure intensity, and back-end usage have significant influence on e-commerce usage. Among these variables, back-end integration is found to function as mediator. Companies registered with the Company Commission of Malaysia under group 7 (technology, communications, and transportation) constitute the population of interest. The results indicate that non-accounting software usage and size of accounting department have significant relationships with organizational commitment on security controls. To fill this vacuum, this paper investigates the cause and effect of Intranet usage and manager satisfaction as well as their effects on performance impact. Data was collected from 150 middle managers from various organizations in the Malaysian port industry. The structural equation modeling (SEM) results indicate that both usage and manager satisfaction significantly predict performance impact. Intranet usage predicts manager satisfaction and vice-versa with Intranet usage having more impact on manager satisfaction and both are positively related. Based upon this setting, this study investigates the effectiveness of the portfolio selection model by inforcoporating the mean-variance approach and the investor's judgement vector. Based upon 128 samples of stocks which were randomly selected from the Bursa Malaysia and studied for the period 2000-2008, the results suggest that the model is efficient in improving portfolio diversification benefits by maximising risk. Recognizing the link between human resource practices and the concept of learning organization, the current study attempts to examine their interrelationships which have received very little research attention to date. The statistical results obtained from 37 manufacturing firms indicate significant positive relationships between human resource practices and learning organization. This study suggests that a learning organization can be developed by rewarding desirable learning behaviors when individual performance improved. Using the task-technology fit model, it investigates how certain factors (e.g. task characteristics, intranet characteristic, task-technology fit, usage) affect the middle manager’s performance. Numerous organisations in port industry, namely port authority, terminal operator, marine department, immigration department and royal customs and excise department constitute the population of interest. The result of structural equation modelling (SEM) indicates that task-technology fit, and usage significantly explained the variance on middle manager’s performance. In addition, task characteristic, and intranet characteristics significantly justified the variance on task-technology fit. Task technology fit; on the other hand, significantly predict usage. This study also proves that task characteristics have indirectly affect performance, albeit a weak link. Intranet characteristics, however, have indirectly affected on performance, with moderate link. One of the areas in industry that is affected by the growth of Intranet is the port industry. However, the impact of Intranet implementation in terms of performance improvement and related benefits are still elusive. This ambiguity comes largely from the absence of empirically-based assessment of Intranet implementation especially in the Malaysian port industry. Thus, this paper examines resistance on port middle managers’ performance in an organisational context. The study was conducted over a nine-month period in various organisations in Malaysian port industry. 357 middle managers were used as our sample to ascertain how are critical success factors (i.e. task-technology fit, perceived resistance, user resistance and usage) influence managers’ performances. The results from structural equation modeling (SEM) indicate that task-technology fit has relationships with usage and perceived resistance. In addition, the study suggested that perceived resistance is a predictor of user resistance. As expected, usage predicts managers’ performance, but not user resistance. All Form Five (GCE 'O' Level equivalent) students from three different types of schools in the rural district of Segamat, Malaysia were sampled. The t-test and ANOVA results show that there were significantly different influences of the types of schools they enrolled in, their computer ownership and computer club memberships on their computer skills. The findings also revealed significant correlation between the four computer attitude subscales and the students' computer skills. TTF is a predictor of perceived usefulness and usage but it does not predict user resistance. Perceived usefulness is a predictor of usage but it does not predict user resistance.
